The importance of posture is crucial to muscle balance in an athlete. If muscles
are not balanced in strength, power and endurance, the result is, minimally,
decreased performance whether it be in speed, ability to jump or excel
throughout the sporting event.
Here is the problem: is the posture off because of weak muscles, a difference
in power or the inability of a specific muscle group to endure the entire length
of the game or support the effort consistently?
Here is the other side of this. As the posture imbalance continues, the muscle
imbalance gets worse, therefore, performance suffers.
For example, your percent of baskets made in the second half drops or you
cannot sprint to the other end of the court as fast. In baseball, you can steal
2nd base in the early innings, but get thrown out in the later innings.
